Bellows Tip

Bellows Tip
What Is the Bellows Tip?

How It Works

Traditional automatic pipetting station for clinical samples is mainly a machine that having a pipetting unit for suction and ejection of liquid that consists of a nozzle, a cylinder and a plunger and a plastic consumable tip connected to it. This pipetting unit, which demands high precision, is expensive and has risks such as leakage from the connecting region to the tip and sucking dangerous sample into the cylinder.

Thus, PSS devised a bellows-type disposable tip. It made the expensive cylinder unit unnecessary anymore and provided a simple and compact automated apparatus. It would be possible to reduce the infection risk and give a safer environment for sample preparation, by providing a sealable bellows-type tip with no nozzle-connecting region.

Created to be Safe & Reliable

A Higher Standard of Perfection

In clinical test systems including general biochemical tests and immunological serum tests, rapid and high-precision tests are implemented with a higher perfection level.

However, tests of intracellular infectious viruses, bacteria and microbes require complicated sample preparation and are also higher in infection risk and thus, there is a strong demand for safety to sample handlers. Genetic tests are often requested for assured diagnosis, but no universal clinical test system has been established yet. In particular, major infectious viral diseases such as influenza virus, HIV, HCV, HBV and WNV are important test targets. Tuberculosis and HIV infection often found in developing countries are crucial, and measures to eradication of the diseases are taken all over the world, and there exists a demand for a simple, easy and inexpensive device permitting on-site sample preparation and test.

Understanding the circumstance above, PSS wishes to make social contribution in medical and life science fields by providing an apparatus that retains the performance of traditional pipetting station and yet is smaller, cheaper and can be used more safely and reliably.

Applications

Multiple Samples in a Single Apparatus

While several apparatuses different in sample capacity should be prepared depending on sample volume, it is possible to handle multiple samples in an amount of 200 µl to 20 ml in a single apparatus

Automation of Various Operations

Because aspirating and dispensing can be repeated simply, it’s also possible to automate operations such as agitation, homogenization, and solubilization, which were traditionally performed manually.

Meeting the Changing Demands of Specialized Fields

Simplifying the Science of Discovery

PSS is committed to the rapid development of products in various fields such as infectious disease, oncology, genetics, human identification, animals, and plants in order to contribute to the world’s ongoing health needs.
